Oh hey, that’s me!!!
Hey folks!
As I prepare myself to write music as my week long break comes to a close, I feel I need to address something that has been cropping up recently…
That thing is the whole “Do you take commissions?” “Are you going to make an album?” “Could you stop making Fluttershy sound demonic?” Well, maybe not that last one…
Mainly the whole accepting money for what I do. You see, this is what I ultimately want to do! Get paid to write music!
But at this moment in time I am not a professional. I still have a long way to go with music and I don’t want to take people’s money in order to give them something which is inadequate compared to the music industry standard. Once I am at a professional level, then I’ll be happy to take commissions.
I am happy to do requests though! You see, doing something for free means I don’t have to live up to industry standards that I have yet to achieve…
Another reason is experimentation. I experiment with music a lot and taking money means I lose a lot of that control I have, because I have to conform to what the customer wants.
But with requests, I can do what they want, the way I want. I can have a bit of experimentation in there and it’d be fine because, hey, no one lost anything for it…
I’m actually very tired at the moment, so I’m probably not explaining this right, but ah well, I’ll fix it when I’m free from the land of nod.
For a tl:dr I don’t do commissions because I’m not one of the best! Only when I’m one of the best will I be worthy of your money!
P.S. The other question about albums…are you not happy with the free stuff I give out anyway???
